My midterm drawing is an original piece inspired by a lot of my home life, being surrounded by animals and growing up in an entirely different space compared to the rest of my peers. I think at this point I’d been able to fully grasp the concepts of texture and style. This piece uses pencils (8B, 6B, 3B, Ebony), India ink, and Sharpie, as well as mixed media in the form of newsprint and transfer technique. While the primary focus in style is on the texture, I’m proud of the uses of value present in the piece, and I believe my understanding of the assignment was really fulfilled by the extra time I placed into making the textures stand out as best they could.
